Switching to Faktuno from another Peppol provider
Already using Peppol through other software? You can simply switch to Faktuno. One thing matters: your Peppol number can only be registered with one Peppol provider (also called an access point) at a time. As long as your old provider holds the number, new invoices arrive there, even if you already use Faktuno.
Why do my invoices still arrive at my old provider?
Many programs let you turn Peppol off. That stops the program from using Peppol, but your number often stays registered there. Your suppliers then keep sending their invoices to your old provider. So turning Peppol off is not the same as releasing your number. For a real switch, your old provider must transfer or unregister your number.
Step 1. Check where you receive now
In Faktuno, go to My company → Peppol connection. You see two lines: one for sending and one for receiving, with the name of the provider that receives your invoices today. Faktuno checks this in the Peppol network itself, so you always see the real situation.
Step 2. Choose how you want to use Faktuno
If your number is held by another provider, the Switch to Faktuno card appears with two choices:
- Everything to Faktuno: you send and receive with Faktuno. Continue with step 3.
- Send only: you send with Faktuno and keep receiving at your current provider. Nothing else to do. Want to move everything later? Click Move everything to Faktuno after all.
Step 3. Ask your current provider for a migration key
A migration key is a code that lets your old provider transfer your number to Faktuno. You get one per Peppol number (Peppol ID). Most Belgian businesses have two: one with the enterprise number (0208:…) and one with the VAT number (9925:BE…).
On the Switch to Faktuno card this is “Step 1 of 2 · Ask … for a migration key”. Faktuno shows the email to your current provider there, with your numbers already filled in. Click Copy the email and paste it into a new email, or choose Open in Gmail or Open in Outlook. Faktuno doesn’t send the email itself: you send it. If you use Billit, you ask for the key through a ticket (see below).
Step 4. Paste the key(s) into Faktuno
At “Step 2 of 2”, paste the key or keys and click Move. Faktuno shows the status for each number: In progress…, Done ✓ or Refused. The switch happens in one step, without missing any invoices.
If a key is refused, it was usually copied wrongly or has expired. Ask your current provider for a new key. If your identity check is not finished yet, the switch waits until it is. You don’t need to do anything again.
Step 5. Faktuno confirms
As soon as both numbers are with Faktuno, you see You now receive via Faktuno ✓ and get an email. If it still hasn’t worked after two days, you get a message explaining what is wrong, and we look into it with you.
No migration key?
It also works without a key. Ask your old provider to fully unregister your Peppol numbers (not just turn Peppol off). Faktuno checks every hour whether your numbers are free and then takes them over automatically.
Invoices sent to you in the meantime may be refused, so it is best to do this in the evening or at the weekend.
Switching from Billit
Using Billit? Billit doesn’t handle this request by email, but through a ticket in Billit itself. So for Billit, Faktuno doesn’t show an email but the text for your ticket: click Copy the text, then Open Billit. In Billit, click the help button at the bottom of the left menu, open a ticket and paste the text. Without a key, you can unregister your numbers yourself in Billit via Settings → Company details → Peppol → Unregister from Peppol (menus as of October 2026). With other providers, you usually ask their support for the migration key. Each provider has its own menus and timing.
