Sending a Peppol invoice: how it works
Sending an invoice via Peppol is no harder than sending an email. You do need software that is connected to the Peppol network. This is how it works in practice.
What do you need?
- A Belgian enterprise number.
- Software that sends via Peppol, such as Faktuno. You don’t send a file yourself: the software does it for you.
- A registration on the Peppol network. In Faktuno this is done for you as soon as your identity check is complete.
Is your client on Peppol?
Every business on Peppol is listed in a public directory. When you type your client’s enterprise number into Faktuno, Faktuno looks it up and shows you straight away whether your client can be reached via Peppol.
Sending an invoice, step by step
- Create your invoice as usual: client, products or services, VAT.
- Check: Faktuno shows what is still missing before you send, such as a VAT number or a due date.
- Click Send. The invoice travels as a structured e-invoice via Peppol, straight into your client’s software.
- Follow up: you see whether the invoice was delivered, and whether it is paid or overdue.
What does your client receive?
Not a PDF, but data in the Peppol format (UBL). Your client’s software reads it immediately, so nobody has to retype amounts or numbers. Fewer mistakes, and often faster payment.
And your accountant?
You must keep your invoices. Faktuno keeps them for you and sends your accountant all your sales and purchase invoices on the 1st of each month, without a login.
