Finding a Peppol ID: what it is and how to look it up
A Peppol ID is a business’s address on the Peppol network, like an email address but for e-invoices. Anyone who knows your Peppol ID can send you an invoice.
What does a Belgian Peppol ID look like?
For Belgian businesses, the Peppol ID is based on the enterprise number. Most businesses have two:
- 0208: followed by your enterprise number, for example 0208:0123456789.
- 9925: followed by your VAT number, for example 9925:BE0123456789.
Both point to the same business. So you don’t need to apply for a separate number: your enterprise number is enough.
How do you see whether a client is on Peppol?
Every business on Peppol is listed in a public directory, the Peppol Directory (directory.peppol.eu). You can search it by name or number. If you can’t find your client, they are not (yet) reachable via Peppol.
And your own Peppol ID?
You get a Peppol ID as soon as a Peppol provider registers you. A business can only be registered for receiving with one provider at a time. To switch, your old provider has to release your number. Read how to switch Peppol provider.
How it works in Faktuno
Type in your client’s enterprise number. Faktuno looks up the Peppol ID for you and shows straight away whether your client can be reached via Peppol. Your own registration happens automatically as soon as your identity check is complete.
